Timberland products used in plans to build the largest US-flagged hopper dredge in the US

Long-time Timberland customer Manson Construction Company has announced plans to build the largest US-flagged hopper dredge in the USA. The dredge will be built at Keppel Amfels shipyard in Brownsville, Texas and will measure 420 feet by 81 feet with a draft of 28.5 feet. The enormous dredge will have a hopper capacity of 15,000 cubic yards.

Timberland landed two significant 2021 orders for this project: 2 x anchor windlasses for 2-5/16” chain with ABS certification to Keppel as well as an order to Manson directly for the Draghead and Pump Winches as shown in 3D renderings above.

The Draghead winches are rated to pull 150,000 lbs and the Pump winches will pull 57,000 lbs. The winches are designed for the severe, high duty cycle of dredging operations, similar to equipment supplied to Manson in 2006 as shown in the photos above.
